Mel South is through to the quarter-finals of the ITF $25k event in Changwon after a 7-5 6-4 defeat of qualifier Chun-Mei Ji of China.
After saving six match points in her opening round match, South followed up with a more routine victory in round two to set up another test against Chinese opposition in the form of Yi-Fan Xu.
South commented on Twitter:
“(I) won today 7-5, 6-4. (Now) play Xu from China tomorrow.”
